HerSong: Taina Asili Changing the World One Song at a Time

Mike Morgan

From Carnegie Hall to the Women’s March on Washington and the main stage of San Francisco Pride, Taína Asili uses powerful vocals in multilingual songs that beat with the heart of social change.

Taína Asili is an Albany based Puerto Rican singer, filmmaker and activist carrying on the tradition of her ancestors, fusing past and present struggles into one soulful and defiant voice. Her musical career started in the Binghamton punk group, Anti-Product and now spans across numerous genres in thought provoking music, powered by the rhythm of revolution. Asili’s most recent single, “Nature” is a latin-reggae musical manifesto for the climate justice movement, written during her artist residency with the Social Justice Portal Project.
