Carolyn Shapiro is a folk musician and banjo player who has performed and worked at the iconic folk music venue Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs. Carolyn’s life course was set when she picked up a banjo prior to graduating from Skidmore College in 2015, and began studying the claw-hammer style of banjo with folk icons John Kirk and Trish Miller.

An ever-deepening knowledge of American music traditions informs Carolyn’s sound, rooted in the old-songs of Appalachia. Her songs blend that with lyrics inspired by the world around her, sung with a confidant, heartfelt and sometimes sultry voice.
