Blues guitar great Murali Coryell has a story that is unique and has been growing since before he was born. Held by Hendrix, lived with Santana, dinners with Miles Davis, opened for B.B. King, and played with Buddy Guy: Coryell has blazed a trail of soulful blues-rock since picking up a guitar at age 8.
In this conversation, we chat about Coryell’s father, jazz fusion guitar virtuoso Larry Coryell, getting invited to a Jagger wedding in England, and a new song inspired by the war in Ukraine and the resiliency of its people. Coryell plays “Ukraine War Cries” and says he can’t wait to play with his trio in Canajoharie at Music on Mainstreet Tuesday, August 23rd in a free show beginning at 7pm.
