Local 518 Bob Bates (Dyer Switch Band) once played with Charlie Louvin and made several appearances at the Grand Ole Opry. He became a bluegrass legend. A musical genius. And a friendly, familiar guest at WEXT. Sadly, Bob passed away in September 2022.
Dave Michaels talks with Bob's musical sister and bandmate JoAnn Sifo about an event to celebrate his life and legacy at the Strand Theater (his home away from home) in Hudson Falls, February 12th. This celebration will be chock full of amazing musicians performing his music, and music that was dear to him. It is going to be quite the celebration, just as he would have wanted with performances from The Bob Bates Band, Dakota Bates, Dyer Switch Band, Gisella Montanez-Case, Jonathan Newell, JoAnn Sifo, Al and Kathy Bain, Tom Thorpe, The Bob Bates Amorak Players, and more.
Proceeds benefit the Amorak music program of which Bob was the director. Amorak is a non profit that provides free music lessons for children ages 8-15 in Hudson Falls and Ft. Edward. Following the show will be a meet-and-greet from 4pm-5pm in the lobby.
Here's to you, Bob because “Legends Never Die.”
