Meadow Mountain
WEXT

High in the mountains near Denver Colorado is a mountain called Meadow Mountain. Near the base of that mountain is where the members of the band Meadow Mountain gathered to form the band they are today. And they are a band in the truest sense of the word.

From the first few notes of "Radio Waves," it became apparent to us that we needed to help spread their word and their music.

THE MAMMALS SHARE FIVE NEW SINGLES GIVING PROCEEDS TO “SUNSHINERS”

Ruth Ungar and Mike Merenda of The Mammals make their home in West Hurley, NY (nearWoodstock) and while they’ve supported their family thus far thru their music career, this recentturn has been a head scratcher. Live shows are still a source of income, but the actual sale ofphysical or digital recordings has become a novelty rather than a mainstay. Rather than stopcreating new work, though, they keep doing it. Why?

The Vindys
WEXT

The Vindys hail from Youngstown, OH. They brought their unique, high-energy performance to the studio - in an acoustic fashion. Their songs are a mix of old-world pop/jazz standards and soul infused rock.

Part of that massive ball of energy is vocalist, and songwriter, Jackie Popovec.  Hear the story of The Vindys, and a few of their amazing songs in this session.

Brandi Carlile & Chris Wienk

Brandi Carlile has long been a favorite of ours at WEXT. This past year, the release of the magnificent "By The Way, I Forgive You," and her visit to play at the Palace Theatre, we were in heaven.

Our fingers are crossed that Brandi will prevail at the Grammys.  Keep rockin', Ms B!

Constance Hauman
WEXT

Constance Hauman has one heck of a story to tell. An opera singer, she got to sing on stage with Leonard Bernstein. But that's just the end of a brilliantly told tale of a story with a million moving parts. Constance tells the story, and the story of her music - her travels from apartment sitting for Andre Watts to that famed moment with Leonard Bernstein t0 her art rock pop singer songwriter albums.

Greensky Bluegrass dropped by
WEXT

The band started in 2000 in Kalamazoo, MI.  Greensky Bluegrass evolved from 3 to 5 members, and the sound they made has evolved over time as well.  We learn a little about that, and about the tongue-in-cheek new album title, "All For Money."  You will enjoy the performances of the new songs and an older one, too.  These guys strip back to the original configuration, and yet they still rock!!

Chuck Vosganian Rochmon Reccord Club
WEXT

Chuck Vosganian is a big music fan. He might even be the biggest fan.  He spends a lot of time researching some of the most obscure pieces of information for the biggest, most iconic albums of all time. Then he gets up in front of folks at Caffe Lena and The Linda to join you in listening to great albums. The Rochmon Record Club events are filled with other music lovers, like you.  Chuck imparts a bit of the knowledge he's discovered. Some of that, you may know.

Josh Clevenstine
WEXT

We found out about Josh purely by accident. Carrying on the tradition of the Adirondack folk singers, like Christopher Shaw, Dan Berggren and others. We met Josh through a Facebook post by Chris Shaw. So, we had to ask about the connection. Turns out, it's been a life-long connection that started when Josh was very young hearing one of Chris' recordings in his car seat.

Find Josh at the Across the Street Pub in Albany monthly.

He's been in the WEXT studios before with several projects, including Swamp Baby, one of our favorite Local 518 bands.

Wine. Cheese. Licorice.  That's how the Wynotte Sisters met.  They found that they each had a penchant for some great old Christmas chestnuts.  And for the past few years, they've been making a name for themselves in the Hudson Valley playing holiday shows.

Hear their story, and the three part harmonies in a few, cool yule tunes.

Erin Rae
WEXT

Just by chance, singer-songwriter Erin Rae ended up on the Brett Dennen tour that made a stop at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall in November.

Erin caught the attention of John Paul White (ex of the Civil Wars) who signed her to his Single Lock Records label. She recorded her latest album in a former Franciscan monastery in Appleton, WI.  Utilizing the reverberant sound that one might expect from such a space, and living on site (it's sort of an artist retreat, now), helped put her in a very special space to unleash the highly personal songs on "Putting On Airs."

Hamish Anderson
Artist/Mark Horton

Hamish Anderson: A student of the three Kings (Albert, BB and Freddie), Peter Green and Keith Richards with influences of Jeff Buckley and Tom Petty.

New father! New songs! Same prodigious wit and charm!  Our favorite ginger singer-songwriter Brett Dennen released a two-part EP this year - "Let's..." in February and "Here's Looking At You, Kid" in August - and welcomed a baby boy into the world this summer!

Hear Brett play acoustically in the WEXT studio and talk to Dave Michaels about his influences, being a dad and his joys away from music.
