After leaving her home in the Bronx as a teenager, Alynda Segarra hitchhiked, train hopped, and made her way to New Orleans where she learned how to play music and started the band Hurray for the Riff Raff. Segarra has proven herself to be a prominent voice for a new generation of folk singer-songwriters. Hurray for the Riff Raff's new album "The Navigator" strays a bit from the band's traditional folk sound, but Segarra shines as she tunes in to her Puerto Rican roots, and shares a powerful message and story.
