The Library has had a music education component to it since Nicholas Matulis and his wife Donna Baird began running it. As part of that, they've helped many young (and older) patrons learn the art of writing songs. And then... they make them!

  • Super excited to learn that Sydney Worthley is working on a new album. We've already heard a few of the songs as she's been releasing them as singles. She and I also talked about the performance she did for the Tiny Desk contest. Plus, she's going to be with us on March 1 and May 17 for a couple shows.
  • Dakota Bates is the daughter of my friend, the late, truly great, Bob Bates. I had asked if we could be treated to her playing a few songs, and to talk about the amazing legacy of her father.

  • Gil Gutierrez may be the one who got the amazing Doc Severinsen to come out of retirement in his 80s. He led Doc's San Miguel 5 for many years until Doc Severinsen retired (again). Now, Gil and his Trio are making their way on tour showing off his amazing skill.
