Michaela Anne Takes the Reins on These Are the Days
Michaela Anne is embracing independence in a big way with her new album, These Are the Days — her new record that she fully owns. After years of working within the traditional indie-label system, the Nashville singer-songwriter decided to take control of the entire process, from recording and releasing the music to the business behind it. The album is out now on her own Georgia June Records.
Michaela stopped by WEXT to play a few songs and talk about what it really means to be a truly independent artist — the freedom, the responsibility, and the sometimes overwhelming amount of work that comes with doing it yourself. We also talked about the journey that brought her here, and how taking ownership of her music has changed the way she thinks about her career.
And there’s more to Michaela’s creative life than music. She and her husband, producer and musician Aaron Shafer-Haiss, host The Other 22 Hours, a podcast focused on the realities of sustaining a creative life.
