The 176th Saratoga County Fair

Saratoga County Fair
Agency

The summertime tradition continues as plans are starting to take shape for the 176th Anniversary season of the Saratoga County Fair held on July 18-23, 2017.

The 2017 Saratoga County Fair will offer seven stages of entertainment from all over the Country, animal displays domestic to exotic, six nights of exciting competition in the National Grid Grandstand with two nights of Pro Rodeo, two nights of Demo Derby, plus Modified tractor Pulls, and a day full of four wheel drive truck pulls.

The Live Music Pavilion will feature great live music 11AM to 11PM (and sometimes later) for all six days of the Fair. Craft Beer and Wine fans will be offered our special private label Judging Stand Ale and our private label Saratoga County Fair wine, both produced in Saratoga County for us by local manufacturers, and available in the Live Music Pavilion.

There will also be four new food vendors this year offering Bacon Bombs to Brats, as well as all your favorite traveling restaurants returning.

For potential exhibitors, information is now available online and includes specific details on all the 2017 competitive departments, including animals, produce, arts & crafts, antiques, talent show, pageants, and more.

With competitors making plans, the Fairgrounds are also getting ready. A new 7,000 square foot building is being constructed as the permanent home of the Stewart’s Shops Show Ring, where the top Dairy & Beef Farms from Saratoga and nearby Counties compete each year at the Fair for cash awards, ribbons, and of course bragging rights.

This new building is made possible by a grant from Governor Cuomo and the NYS Department of Agriculture & Markets, who are supporting all the Agricultural Fairs in NYS this year with a 5 million dollar fund dedicated to improvements on County Fairgrounds all over NYS.

The Townley Building on the Fairgrounds is getting some love this year also, in the form of a new roof. Built in 1971, the Townley Building is named after a long time volunteer, Director, and Benefactor of the Saratoga County Fair, Wendell Townley, and houses Agricultural and Dairy exhibits, as well as the representatives of the local Grange organizations. The Townley Building is part of educational aspect of the Saratoga County Fair that goes back to its origins over 175 years ago.
