Albany Pro Musica will present the Capital Region premiere of Considering Matthew Shepard, an evocative choral drama by Craig Hella Johnson. This poignant oratorio for chorus, soloists, and chamber orchestra tells the heartbreaking story of Matthew Shepard, a young gay man who was brutally murdered in Wyoming in 1998. In addition to the concert performance, APM will convene a series of community engagement opportunities that explore the important themes laid out in the oratorio.

Albany Pro Musica will close its 2024-25 season with an homage to Broadway! Albany Pro Musica and the Pro Musica Pops will present some of our audience’s all-time favorite showtunes, arranged for chorus, small ensembles, and soloists, and featuring Broadway talent Jamari Johnson Williams. Join us before the concert for our signature spring gala, where we’ll honor our long-time partner, the University at Albany, with the 2025 Dr. Karen R. Hitchcock Award for Celebrating the Choral Arts. (Gala tickets sold separately; more info coming soon!)
