Listen: Joanne Shaw Taylor Plays The Egg Sunday, November 19th
“He phoned the house, spoke to my dad, and asked if my parents could bring me down to London and talk about the label he was starting. He wanted to see me play and was thinking of signing me,” recalls British blues guitarist and singer-songwriter Joanne Shaw Taylor on Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics who discovered her at the age of 16. After that meeting, Dave invited Joanne on the road with his supergroup D.U.P. A career in music was born, and in the years that followed, Joanne’s incredible guitar playing saw her build an army of plaudits including Jimmy Cliff, Joe Bonamassa, Stevie Wonder, and Annie Lennox.
Over the past two decades, Joanne has proven herself as a prolific songwriter, with each critically acclaimed album more successful than the last. Her highly anticipated eighth studio album Nobody's Fool was released on October 28, 2022, featuring Joe Bonamassa, Dave Stewart, Tina Guo, and Carmen Vandenburg. The album was released on Bonamassa’s newest label Journeyman Records, which provides the infrastructure needed to jumpstart the careers of exceptional independent artists, who are too often overlooked by the major labels or concert promoters.
