Sometimes you just connect with an artist. That's how it was with Laura Stevenson. I had heard her music before, but had never really spent a lot of time listening. Then an opportunity to have her by ahead of her playing at the Meadowlark Festival (9/13-15) presented itself.
Laura's songs are beautiful and lush, and yet sparse and often times very sad. But the music magnet is on high. It's really hard to turn away. The songs compel you to listen. I walked away from the preparation for this interviewing intrigued and wanting to know more about the woman behind the songs - behind the singing. Her voice is clear, bright and beautiful.
