Emma Swift Brings The Resurrection Game to Life

Australian-born, Nashville-based singer-songwriter Emma Swift recently joined me at EXT to promote her new album, The Resurrection Game. Accompanied by her guitarist Rick Lollar, Swift performed three songs from the record — the title track “The Resurrection Game,” “Nothing and Forever,” and “Beautiful Ruins.” Together, they filled the studio with a shimmering blend of folk and timeless Americana, showcasing the emotional depth and lyrical grace that define Swift’s work.

Known for her acclaimed Dylan reinterpretations on Blonde on the Tracks and her deeply personal songwriting, Swift delivered a performance that was both haunting and hopeful — a stunning reminder of her gift for turning melancholy into something radiant. Between songs, we bonded over our shared religious upbringings and a mutual love of cats, making the session feel as heartfelt as it was musically rich.

A personal highlight for me was hearing my favorite track, “Nothing and Forever,” performed live — a moment that perfectly captured Swift’s emotional honesty and understated brilliance.

The session was an unforgettable showcase of one of modern music’s most evocative voices, exclusively for EXT.
