Storyteller and songwriter Joseph Sobol brings the poetry of W. B. Yeats to life in a unique musical performance at the Irish American Heritage Museum on March 28. Blending traditional influences with original compositions, Joseph Sobol transforms Yeats’ words into deeply expressive songs that feel both timeless and immediate.
During his conversation with me, Joseph shared the inspiration behind the project, exploring how Yeats’ mysticism and lyrical language lend themselves to music. He also performed a couple of songs, offering a preview of the evocative and intimate experience audiences can expect.
This special session highlights the enduring connection between poetry and song, reimagined through Joseph Sobol’s thoughtful and engaging musical lens.
In the Deep Heart’s Core is a musical event of transcendent power, which will be a particularly unforgettable experienced here at the Irish American Heritage Museum's Flanagan Theater, Albany's most intimate venue. In the Deep Heart’s Core is a brilliantly autobiographic and deeply moving telling of the journey of W. B.Yeats - truly one of Ireland's most beloved and iconic poets - through his romantic imagination and the national soul of Ireland.
