Hard Dinero

Hard Dinero

Hard Dinero illuminates the struggles and dreams of our undocumented Spanish-speaking population. An original bi-lingual play from award-winning Ulster County artist premieres at the historic Rosendale Theatre.

While immigrant and migrant workers are an essential part of our economic engine and their culture contributes to our communities, they remain marginalized, invisible. Told in both English and Spanish, writer/performer David Gonzales has woven their true, uplifting and tragic stories, into a humanizing and heartfelt tapestry. Hard Dinero, a mesmerizing evening of monologues, music, video, poetry, and sound design. This new play illuminates the struggles and dreams that sustain hope for better tomorrows.

The title, Hard Dinero, is a play on the Spanish word jardinero which means gardener.

David Gonzalez, of Puerto Rican and Cuban descent, is a local writer, poet, storyteller, musician, and arts advocate who has completed numerous community outreach projects with marginalized communities throughout the country. He has received grants from The National Endowment for the Arts, The New York State Council of the Arts, The Jerome Foundation, and many others. David was awarded the New Jersey Governor's Arts Award, a Drama Desk Nomination, is a Fellow of the Joseph Campbell Foundation, and received his doctorate from New York University's School of Education.
