San Francisco-born songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Kendra McKinley stopped by the WEXT studio to share some of her newest music. Known for her lush, soulful sound and imaginative songwriting, Kendra blends elements of jazz, folk, pop, and indie rock into songs that are both timeless and adventurous. Over the years, she has earned a reputation for her soaring voice, intricate guitar work, and playful yet poignant lyrics.
After years of creating and performing on the West Coast, Kendra recently relocated to the Hudson Valley, immersing herself in the region’s thriving arts community. The move has brought fresh inspiration and a renewed sense of place to her writing, as she continues to explore new sounds and stories.
During her visit, Kendra performed a few brand-new songs, giving us an intimate first listen at where her music is headed next. The session highlighted not just her talent as a performer, but her warmth and charisma as a storyteller. It was a chance to experience the spark of creativity up close—and to hear music that’s still taking shape before it hits larger stages.
Kendra McKinley will be performing as part of the Meadowlark Festival in Stone Ridge, NY.
