HerSong: Mother Judge Transformed the Local 518 Music Scene
Caroline "Mother Judge" Isachsen's voice ranged from intimate to soaring. For years, she hosted the popular, Best Damn Open Mic Ever at McGeary's in Albany and served as volunteer coordinator for the Grey Fox BlueGrass Festival, fostering up-and-coming talent when she wasn't writing her own folk songs and performing throughout the region. While Mother Judge passed away in 2019 she continues to live on in the collective memory of a music scene forever transformed by her presence.
“While she is rightfully praised in her passing as a giving soul, community organizer and relentless promoter of others, let’s not forget her own inspiring, righteous skills as a singer, songwriter and musician.”
