Savoy Brown's Kim Simmonds Talks To Dave Michaels

Glide Magazine

“I took it a stage further; a really sort of heavy, authentic blues band and like everything else, you add to what went before.   I always looked to The Stones, people like that, they came before me and of course they were the beginnings of that whole thing in England.  I certainly kicked that ball along.”

On the heels of their show in Albany, Kim Simmonds of Savoy Brown talks to Dave Michaels about the British blues rock explosion of the ‘60s and how it influenced their sound.  Kim tells Dave about the band's start-up, their ever-changing lineup and the legacy they leave behind.  Fifty years later, listeners are still drawn to the blues-rock-boogie of Savoy Brown.

Kim Simmonds and Savoy Brown play The Upper Room in Albany Saturday, November 12 at 8pm.  Tickets available at:  http://theupperroomalbany.com/event/kim-simmonds-and-savoy-brown/
