Local 518 band New American Cuisine are big fans of Grateful Dead, but they are no cover band. You can hear the influence of the Dead, but you hear pop and rock influences of all sorts infused into their brand of indie pop. The jam and improvisation is key to their sound, and they even tell of a time they were given ten minutes and told to play a couple songs. They played one.
Since forming at a high school pep rally, they have gone on to shows at Caffe Lena, and have all just graduated college. Despite having been in multiple states while going to college, and with Covid protocols and all, the band has continued to create and write and make a second album called "Forward."
