Louis Michot and the Lost Bayou Ramblers bring their high-energy brand of Cajun music to Music Haven in Schenectady’s Central Park on Sunday, August 23 at 7 p.m., with special guest Cécilia.
In my conversation with Louis Michot, we dig into the roots of the Lost Bayou Ramblers—and the musical traditions that continue to shape their sound. Formed by Louis and his brother Andre, the Grammy-winning band grew out of a family steeped in Cajun music. But the Ramblers have never been interested in simply looking backward.
Their music connects traditional Cajun melodies and French-language songs with rock, punk, psychedelic sounds and a fearless, modern energy. It’s music with deep roots—and plenty of room to roam.
Louis and I also talk about what makes Cajun music so distinctive, how the band keeps pushing the tradition forward, and what you as a member of the audience can expect when the Ramblers hit the Music Haven stage.
And expect movement. With fiddle, accordion, driving rhythms and an infectious live energy, the Lost Bayou Ramblers make music that’s hard to sit still for.
Whether you’re a longtime fan of Cajun music or discovering the Lost Bayou Ramblers for the first time, this should be a memorable night of Louisiana music, culture and plenty of high-energy sounds.
