Bethany Yarrow Keeps the Songs—and the Fight—Alive

Bethany Yarrow carries a powerful musical legacy, but she’s very much an artist in her own right. A singer, songwriter and activist, Yarrow draws from folk, gospel, blues and traditional music, using songs as a way to connect people and inspire action.

In my interview with Bethany, we talked about her music, her lifelong commitment to activism, and the profound influence of her father, Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary. She also shared the story behind the Women’s Water March, a 113-mile, two-week prayer walk in New York focused on protecting water, land and communities. For Bethany, music and activism have always been intertwined.

She’s now bringing that spirit to the stage with Songs of Love & Freedom, a special tribute to her father that celebrates the songs, stories and ideals he passed down to her.

Bethany performs September 4 at Caffè Lena in Saratoga Springs and September 6 at the Woodstock Playhouse.
