Collar City Pride Brings Queer Joy Back to Troy
Collar City Pride returns to Downtown Troy on Saturday, October 10, for the 3rd Annual Collar City Pride Festival, bringing an afternoon of music, performance, community and plenty of queer joy to William D. Chamberlain Riverfront Park.
I recently spoke with Collar City Pride director Meagon Nolasco about the festival, the organization’s work throughout the year, and what this celebration means to the LGBTQIA2+ community in Rensselaer County.
The free festival gets underway at 2 p.m. and features local musicians, drag and burlesque performances, a Pride Martial Arts demonstration, community resources and a pop-up market from A Big Gay Market. There’s also the return of the Marisa Henry Family Fun Area, along with a new low-sensory space designed to make the festival more welcoming and accessible.
