Join Caffe Lena Friday, November 6, from 7–9 p.m. at Universal Preservation Hall (UPH) in Saratoga Springs for TrueSongs, an inspiring evening of music, storytelling, and community, presented by Caffè Lena.
I speak with Sarah Craig of Caffe Lena and Kate McDonnell about the project, and how the songwriting part works.
TrueSongs pairs five local individuals who have overcome significant life challenges with professional songwriters who turn their personal experiences into original songs. This year's featured artists include Kate McDonnell, Girl Love (Laura Beth Johnson), Sawyer Fredericks, Slambovian Circus of Dreams, and Cassandra Kubinski.
The project also highlights the work of five local nonprofit organizations: Camp Abilities Saratoga, Whitman Foundation, Wildwood, SoBRO Conservancy, and Franklin Community Center Food Pantry. Supported by Business for Good Foundation, TrueSongs celebrates the power of music to build empathy, foster connection, and inspire positive change.
Come experience the moving stories behind the songs!
