In September 2013 when he was only ten years old, Clifton Park's JP Honsinger was diagnosed with Niemann-Pick Type C, a rare neurodegenerative disease in children causing deterioration of memory and balance, lung and liver failure, delayed motor development, and seizures. While there is yet no cure, supportive therapies are available.
JP's 5k Fun Run supports efforts to raise awareness for Niemann-Pick Type C. Funds raised during JP's Virtual 5k Fun Run will benefit The Melodies Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at the Bernard & Millie Duker Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center.
Complete the 5k race at your convenience anytime between September 27th and October 4th. You can complete the race in any fashion of your choosing - running through your neighborhood, on a treadmill or by simply walking! In addition to raising awareness for Niemann-Pick Type C, your participation and donations to JP's Fun Run will also include a commemorative item and a raffle entry for $50 - $100 gift cards.
