Musician, composer and audio engineer Sam Torres has released Hudson, a three-movement chamber work inspired by the river that has shaped both his home and his creative life.
Begun in 2016, premiered in 2020, recorded over the following two years and recently released, Hudson reflects nearly a decade of artistic development, translating the river's movement and atmosphere into an immersive musical landscape.
Sam Torres is also a valued behind-the-scenes collaborator, helping many 518 musicians bring their recordings to life through mastering, mixing and other audio production services. Alongside pianist, composer and curator Sophia Vastek, he continues to strengthen the Capital Region's contemporary music scene through the Lift Series at Troy Music Hall. Curated through their Organ Colossal collective, the series transforms the historic venue into an intimate onstage listening experience showcasing adventurous independent artists.
