Ralph Renna's 'Capital Underground'

Ralph Renna
Ralph Renna

Ralph Rennahas been embedded in the Local 518 music scene for over thirty years.  Since the age of 18, he's been a muscian, DJ, journalist, TV show host and producer.  Renna's passion for music and his committment to promoting local musicians and bands is unparalleled.

In 2009, Renna came up with the idea for Capital Underground; a series of local music compilations.  These compilation CDs were created by bands and artists who followed a simple DIY approach; submit a song, chip in a few bucks to cover expenses and have their music distributed for free by hand.  In 2011, Volume 1 (a double disc), Volume 2 and Volume 3 were released.  Volume 4 was released in 2013. One thousand CD copies of each volume were pressed and passed out into the hands of music lovers.

With the onset of COVID-19, Renna re-tooled and has begun digitally releasing new volumes of Capital Underground.  The outpouring of support from the local music scene has been incredibleand these new volumes are available for FREEIf you would like to support one of the artists featured, you may contact them directly or donate to help NYS recover from the pandemic.
